Recording video naturally

When you record a page in AlwinBridge™, you are recording a short video of yourself reading that page.

The child will see the page and see you reading it. Your presence becomes part of the story.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is familiarity.

Keep it simple

You do not need special equipment.

Use the iPad’s built-in camera. Sit comfortably. Hold the device steady or place it on a stable surface.

Read as you normally would if the child were sitting beside you.

A calm, steady voice is more valuable than a polished performance.

Position yourself clearly

Keep your face visible and centred in the frame.

Avoid sitting too close to the camera. Leave some space around your head and shoulders.

A simple guideline:

• Keep your face roughly in the middle of the screen
• Do not allow it to fill the entire frame
• Leave space at the top and sides

This ensures that your face remains clearly visible when the video is viewed on different screen sizes or orientations.

Use natural light where possible

Lighting makes more difference than camera quality.

• Face toward a window or a light source
• Avoid strong light directly behind you
• Keep the room reasonably well lit

Clear lighting allows the child to see your expression comfortably.

Speak as you normally would

There is no need to change your voice.

Read at a steady pace. Allow small pauses. Let your natural expression show.

If you make a small mistake, you may simply continue.

If you prefer to record again, you can replace the video at any time.

Build confidence gradually

You may choose to record one page and leave the rest for later.

There is no requirement to complete an entire story in one session.

As you become more familiar with the process, recording becomes quicker and more natural.
