When we read back what we had written, something became obvious.
There was a shape to the day.
He didn’t just move from one activity to another.
There was a rhythm.
He arrived ready.
He explored.
He discovered something new.
He built.
He adjusted when things changed.
He finished the day satisfied.
We hadn’t imposed that structure.
It was already there.
Most good days with children have this kind of pattern. You just don’t always see it while you’re in the middle of it.
When you slow the day down and look carefully, the arc appears.
Beginning.
Challenge.
Action.
Resolution.
Once you see that, the story feels natural.
You’re not forcing events into a shape.
You’re recognising the shape they already had.
That’s why this process is repeatable.
Any ordinary day can contain that pattern.
